Moving Boxes

People: moving sucks. It does not matter how prepared you think you are - you're not. It really truly is just that simple. I believe I am in the wrong line of work to feel this way...well Jake is in the wrong line of work for me to feel this way and I do realize that I need to get out my big girl panties and deal with it but seeing as everyone is asking me the following questions I thought I would answer here to get a few more readers to the el bloggo:

How do you like your place?

Once the moving in is finished I am quite certain I will love it. I already like it much better then I did in our last place for the obvious reasons that our stuff is here and we are no longer living in what I will now and forever refer to as the "monopoly house".

Do you like having your stuff?

Did you hear what you just said? I didn't have our stuff before and now I do so I believe that could be answered with one word "duh."

How is it coming together?

Well...I still have too much stuff and no matter how hard I try I can not seem to get rid of it. It is going to take me quite a while to get it how I want it. I also don't think that it will ever be perfect because I am in a rental but it is coming together. It will just be something to keep me busy for the four years I'm here :)

Those are really the 3 main questions I am getting but if you have anymore I would love to answer them. I understand that it is going to take me a while but I will have this place organized eventually and the main goal is to do it so that I don't have to go through this crazy unpacking mess again :)

Frames Won't Fit

As I have mentioned a time or two here, Jake and I went home for a wedding last weekend. It was awesome to be able to see friends and family that we so often do not get the opportunity to do. The wedding was beautifully done, which I would expect no less from the new Mrs. Sloan, and on a beautiful day, which I would expect no less from the Lord above.

One of the best parts about the wedding, besides seeing friends and family of course, was the photo booth they rented! (Check out the company they used here) looking at the website they are extremely reasonable in price and the couple that does it is so nice! As a guest of the wedding I absolutely loved it!

That is shown by the many many times I used the photo booth...what? Don't judge. I know when to use something that is there for the enjoyment of me as a guest and for the memory of the bride and groom. In turn, we got a copy of the prints from the booth and I too wanted the memory but they don't make 2x6" frames sooo I came up with my own DIY project!
So, i had like 5 photo strips....well, 6....ok ok 7! and I wanted to display them in a classic but fun way so here is what I did.

It isn't often that I get to venture into a craft store these days so when I do I go prepared with what I want in mind. The closest craft store is over an hour away and since I had to drive my dad out that way anyway this morning I took the most of my trip and ran some errands too (be green and save some green).

After paroozing my options at Michael's I finally found a frame that was long and narrow with built in matting for 3 - 4 x 6" pictures. I then went to the scrapbook section and bought 3 sheets of a white card stock with a raised leaf pattern on it.

(please excuse the 'flatrate shipping boxes' that i'm using as a table because we're still in temporary housing so you use what you've got:)

I then cut the card stock so that it would fit in the frame. I couldn't find a sheet that would go all the way across so I centered one and filled in the spaces on either side with the other two sheets so that the seams from the paper looked like they were intentional instead of on accident. I then took a t-square and made sure all the pictures were center and straight and then tape them in place with some photo friendly adhesive. The end result:

All of the photo's were black and white except for the one in the middle. We accidentally missed the button to change it to black and white and I didn't want to leave it out so I put it in the center. Because i'm so thrifty this whole endevor was under $7. (Pictures: free frame: 4.98 (1/2 off 9.99) and $2.00 for paper).

We move into our new house in 2 days and I can not wait to hang this in a special place!
